Late Breaking News - The Technician Theory Class ended June 22, 2005 and resulted in 3 locals receiving their tickets.  LeeAnn Gragg & Scott Gragg (XYL and eldest son of Jerry Gragg, KF4PJL), received the calls KI4KVW & KI4KVX respectfully.  Art Mooney also passed the exam and received his call of KI4KVY.  With the ending of the code class in  mid-August 2005 and a new round of exams slated toward the latter part of August, it is hoped we will have made a dent in introducing new lifeblood  into the Caldwell County amateur radio population and, perhaps, into the club itself.  Congratulations to all !! GPS (global positioning system) units are fast becoming a way of life.  Many auto manufacturers are now offering "OnStar" (see last month's editorial!) and the price of small handheld units are now competively priced in the $100-$150 range.  In addition, the Motorola cellphone, Model V-60X, has a built-in GPS (call 911 and you can be pinpointed to within 300 yards)...much better than the older "nearest tower" concept which could be up to 10 miles distant!

The 2nd & 3rd  Repeater  Work Details...held on May 28th and June 18th respectfully, are showing tremendous strides toward getting our 147.195 repeater back on the air after recent high wind damage.  At this writing, the wall studs and roofing are in place...awaiting only the outer wall panels and the final covering of tin panels.  Electronically, the coax feedline is all that remains to be installed before setting the repeater inside.  Click on camera... The Newsletter undergoes constant changes...with columns coming/going,  in an attempt to bring you a newsy, easy-to-read format and platform to keep you, the reader, aware of the club's activities.  Experimental typefonts, colors, and presentations are made on a regular basis to enhance that goal.
