The Caldwell Amateur Radio Emergency Services (CARES) Net is called every Sunday night at 8:30 PM on the 147.33 (Hibriten) repeater. This is a formal directed net and is sponsored by the ARES. Its purpose is to train, and keep in readiness, a pool of qualified emergency radio operators in the event of a local and/or regional emergency.  Net checkins will be called by alpha groups and, unless you check in & out, you will be called again during the informal portion to offer any comments, etc.  The 147.33 repeater has a CTCSS tone of 141.3 mhz.       ??   Did you know...  ?? A catastropic temperature drop is not needed to get an ice age under way.  The drop need only be enough to allow a little more snow to fall during a slightly colder winter than can be melted by a succeeding slightly cooler summer.

NEW TECHNICIAN CLASS!                    MEETING AT EOC!
Although intentions were to meet at the Hudson FD for the June Meeting, it was popstponed due to renovations underway that precluded meeting there. Since repairs are still ongoing here in July, we will meet at the EOC as usual (for the July 12th meeting).
Next      YOUNG VISITOR
A Technician Class has been scheduled at the Gamewell Fire Department starting on Tuesday July 10th and will run for 6 weeks. The class will start at 7pm and will run approximately 2 hours.

The instructor will be Michelle Suddreth - KD4YTU (although any assistance is welcome, she states).  The suggested book is
"Now You're Talking" available from the ARRL, but she uses many handouts...so any reasonably current book is usable.

The word is going out to the fire departments.  Please spread the word to other locations.

Anyone can contact Michelle for more details at 828-754-5002 or
kd4ytu@arrl.net
