The Caldwell Amateur Radio Emergency Services (CARES) Net is called every Sunday night at 8:30 PM on the 147.33 (Hibriten) repeater. This is a formal directed net and is sponsored by the ARES. Its purpose is to train, and keep in readiness, a pool of qualified emergency radio operators in the event of a local and/or regional emergency.  Net checkins will be called by alpha groups and, unless you check in & out, you will be called again during the informal portion to offer any comments, etc.  The 147.33 repeater has a CTCSS tone of 141.3 mhz.     ??   Did you know...  ?? Marco Polo reported a strict sense of justice in India.  If a man would not pay his debt, the creditor would draw a circle around the debtor.  If the debtor tried to step out of the circle, he would be liable to punishment by death.

One of the best ways to sharpen your emergency communications skills is to check into the weekly CARES Net (see column at right).

At the last meeting, each member had two pictures taken of themselves...one with a green backround (CERT) and one with a yellow backround (LARC/ARES).  These images were sent to Robert Reid, WR4UNC (with the EOC) who will be in charge of designing & printing the ID badges for our use when on official business at the EOC, emergency shelters, and wherever we may be dispatched.  Sample badges will be at the November meeting for club members to view.  (If you didn't come to last month's meeting...please come to the November meeting for photos!)
IN THE WORKS??
Several clubmembers participated in a "FoxHunt" (hidden transmitter hunt) at Floyd Key's (KF4PJJ) mountaintop QTH recently. A good time (with food!) was had by all!
