The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Lenoir ARC is set for March 13th (Thursday), 7:00 PM, at the Gamewell Fire Department .  The Fire Department is located on Hwy 18 South toward Morganton, NC about 7 miles from downtown Lenoir. Visitors welcome!

The Caldwell Amateur Radio Emergency Services (CARES) Net is called every Sunday night at 8:30 PM on the 147.33 (Hibriten) repeater. This is a formal directed net and is sponsored by the ARES. Its purpose is to train, and keep in readiness, a pool of qualified emergency radio operators in the event of a local and/or regional emergency.  Net checkins will be called by alpha groups and, unless you check in & out, you will be called again during the informal portion to offer any comments, etc.  The 147.33 repeater has a CTCSS tone of 141.3 mhz.       ??   Did you know...  ?? For the first thirty-five years, the U.S. President was not elected by the people. Popular vote was first made a part of the Presidential contest in the election of the nation's sixth President, in 1824, but fewer than five percent of the electorate participated in the voting.  Prior to 1824, the electoral college alone selected the President, the candidates having been chosen by party caucus.  In the 1824 election, the state legislatures nominated  the candidates.

Membership dues are due and payable after Jan 1st for all members (except Life Members). Our new Constitution & ByLaws requires a member to be dropped from the rolls if yearly dues are not paid by March 31st.

The Catawba Valley Hamfest will be conducted on Saturday, April 19th. More details are on their website at http://www.cvhamfest.org .  Skywarn training (Basic at 9-10 AM and Advanced at 10-12 AM) is available as well as the WCARS testing  team to administer exams for all license classes.
