The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Lenoir ARC is set for April 10th (Thursday), 7:00 PM, at the Gamewell Fire Department . The Fire Department is located on Hwy 18 South toward Morganton, NC about 7 miles from downtown Lenoir. Visitors welcome!

The Caldwell Amateur Radio Emergency Services (CARES) Net is called every Sunday night at 8:30 PM on the 147.33 (Hibriten) repeater. This is a formal directed net and is sponsored by the ARES. Its purpose is to train, and keep in readiness, a pool of qualified emergency radio operators in the event of a local and/or regional emergency. Net checkins will be called by alpha groups and, unless you check in & out, you will be called again during the informal portion to offer any comments, etc. The 147.33 repeater has a CTCSS tone of 141.3 mhz. ?? Did you know... ?? After George Washington (1732-1799) was elected President, he proposed he should receive no salary, but only be reimbursed for his expenses, as he had been during the Revolution. Congress, however, fixed a salary of $25,000 a year. Although Washington indeed drew only his expenses over the first four years of his Presidency, they amounted almost exactly to what the salary would have been.

Membership dues are due and payable after Jan 1st for all members (except Life Members). Our new Constitution & ByLaws requires a member to be dropped from the rolls if yearly dues are not paid by March 31st.
     MEETING PLACE CHANGE FOR 2008 !!

     CATAWBA VALLEY HAMFEST

The Catawba Valley (Morganton) Hamfest will be conducted on Saturday, April 19th. More details are on their website at http://www.cvhamfest.org . Skywarn training ("Basic" begins at 9 AM and "Advanced" follows thereafter) is available as well as the WCARS VEC testing team to administer exams for all license classes.
