The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Lenoir ARC is set for January 10th (Thursday), 7:00 PM, at the Gamewell Fire Department .  The Fire Department is located on Hwy 18 South toward Morganton, NC about 7 miles from downtown Lenoir. Visitors welcome!

The Caldwell Amateur Radio Emergency Services (CARES) Net is called every Sunday night at 8:30 PM on the 147.33 (Hibriten) repeater. This is a formal directed net and is sponsored by the ARES. Its purpose is to train, and keep in readiness, a pool of qualified emergency radio operators in the event of a local and/or regional emergency.  Net checkins will be called by alpha groups and, unless you check in & out, you will be called again during the informal portion to offer any comments, etc.  The 147.33 repeater has a CTCSS tone of 141.3 mhz.       ??   Did you know...  ?? Paul Revere, the American silversmith and patriot, designed paper money for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, which issued the money in defiance of English law even before independence was declared.  The notes were handsome but soon depreciated.  Some of them subsequently were used as wallpaper in barbershops.

Since the November 30th Christmas Party  was actually the December meeting, there will be no meeting in December 2007.  The next regularly scheduled meeting will be January 10, 2008 and will be at the GAMEWELL FIRE DEPARTMENT. Note the meeting place change!
